— Because of the generosity of local donors a total of $631,535.00 has been awarded to worthy needs and projects in our community from 2009 through mid 2019.
The Greater Polson Community Foundation recently distributed $33,700.00 among fifteen local non-profit organizations as part of its 2019 grant cycle. The amount distributed represents the annual earnings from the GPCF’s permanent endowment fund. Gifts and contributions from donors have added significantly to the permanent endowment which totals over $600,000. Only the earnings can be used from the permanent endowment. The more this fund grows, the more earnings are available for GPCF’s annual grants.
The 2019 award recipients are: SKC STEM Academy, Flathead Lake International Cinemafest, Cheerful Heart, Proactive Living Facility, Mission Valley LIVE, Flathead Lakers, Mission Valley Aquatics and Fitness, Lake County Community Development Corporation, Polson Farm to School, Ninepipes Museum of Early Montana, Polson Loaves & Fish Food Pantry, North Lake County Public Library, Y.W.A.M. Tribal Waves, CASA of Lake & Sanders Counties and Lake County Youth Scholarship Program.
Roger Smith, Grant Chairman for the GPCF reports that the 2019 grants will support a wide variety of youth and community-oriented projects including: college opportunities for juniors and seniors, swim lesson scholarships, leadership development programs, living center for adults with disabilities, citizen science programs on the lake, youth sports development, preservation and showcasing of historical data and artifacts, a beautiful film festival as well as a series of musical showcases and educational outreach.
