Art Adorns Polson Traffic Boxes

Volunteer members from the Non-Profit Sandpiper Art Gallery and Gifts in Polson have worked together with the Montana Department of Transportation to obtain a permit to wrap 6 Traffic Control boxes with art. After much fundraising and being awarded a grant from the Greater Polson Community Foundation, Sandpiper launched their Call for Art in Lake County. 21 artists submitted original designs that would enable all four sides of the traffic boxes to be wrapped in vinyl. A Selection Committee comprised of seven Polson community members, met to choose 6 winners that best represented Polson best; had good curb appeal and showcased good artistic merit. Flathead Signs and Graphics printed and installed the vinyl wraps that now can be seen at 6 different traffic light junctions throughout Polson.

The winners are Karla Martinson with her Bear & Wolf Art at the turn to Wal-Mart, Leanne Adamson with her Teepees & Abstract Aspens at Eagle Bank, Luke Orsborne with his Fish & Sailboat on Flathead Lake scene near the Durham, Shawna Croft with her Buffalo & Bear Ledger Art across from Super 1, Spring McKee with Swimming Dog, Bee & Bear at the Safeway junction and Sabra Nickol with her Lake Monster graphic at the junction of Main & Hwy 93.

The vinyl wraps are durable and should last many years. The Control boxes now show lively vibrant colors for all to enjoy as they go about their travels through our beautiful Montana town.

Sandpiper Art Gallery and Gifts have their Art4Polson fundraising campaign and will continue to raise money to bring more public Art to Polson.
