MISSION VALLEY MASONIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND
APPLICATION FOR SCHOLARSHIP
GENERAL INFORMATION
Two scholarships, one in the amount of $7500 and the other in the amount of $5000, will be awarded to graduating high school seniors from each of the five public high schools in the Mission Valley. These scholarships are made available from a fund established by Mission Valley Lodge #78, AF & AM, to recognize the legacy of the three Masonic Lodges established in the Mission Valley that combined to form Mission Valley Lodge #78-Polson Lodge #78, Flathead Lodge #112 St. Ignatuis and Ronan Lodge #131.
To be eligible, an applicant must be a graduating senior attending the Arlee, Charlo, Polson, Ronan and St. Ignatius high schools and will attend an accredited school of higher education in Montana. An applicant need not have an affiliation or relationship with any Masonic organization; therefor question number 14 is for statistical purposes only.
Applicants who have demonstrated good work ethics, good grades, community involvement, a financial need (but having worked to provide some of the funding themselves), pursuing a career in fields such as medical, finance, engineering, construction, or trades rather than the more liberal arts areas will receive priority. Technical school applicants are encouraged since building and construction are historically associated with Masonic history. The intent is not to necessarily select the applicant with the highest GPA.
The deadline for submitting a complete application with supporting data to your high school counselor is April 10th, 2025. Attach supporting data in the following order:
- A typed personal letter summarizing the intended education goals.
- Two separate letters of reference from teachers, ministers, employers, or other persons none of whom are related but well acquainted with the applicant.
- One letter of recommendation from a Master Mason, if possible. However, this requirement is not mandatory.
- A transcript of grades and course list, current to the submission of the application.
- A recent photograph, suitable for duplication in newspapers with name and school name printed on the reverse side and stapled to page 2.
The Mission Valley Masonic Scholarship Fund reserves the right to retain all applications; none will be returned. Application information is not intended for public distribution, but the Mission Valley Masonic Scholarship Fund may reveal information therefrom concerning winners as it deems appropriate for the occasion. Neatness in preparation shall count along with need, character, leadership, scholastic achievement, and extracurricular activities. Application folders or covers are not necessary.
A check will be issued in the winner’s name to the University, College, Junior College, or Technical School to which the winner has been accepted and in attendance once proof of enrollment is received from the school by the Mission Valley Masonic Scholarship Fund.
If interested and eligible, complete, and return this application by April 10th, 2025, to your high school counselor.
