GPCF bringing International Choral Festival to Polson

VEUS – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió – 60 voices between 12 -18 years old

Veus – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió has participated in numerous international festivals and has been awarded in numerous contests. Among the most recent prizes there are the Josep Anselm Clavé‘s best recording for the Els Colors del Mar album (2018), the Guido d’Arezzo Award (2017), the first prize at the 47th Choir Contest of Tolosa (2015) and the Silver Rose Bowl of the UER competition Let the Peoples Sing! (2013).

During the 18-19 season, Veus has collaborated with the OBC (The Mass by Bernstein in October 2018, The Kings Return – The Lord of the Rings in January 2019, Turandot in May 2019), with the Banda Municipal de Barcelona (The Christmas Concert in December 2018), with the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Un Conte de Nadal – A Christmas Tale – in December 2018, Tosca in June 2019) and with Jordi Savall (Saint Matthew Passion in April 2019).

They have recently participated in the Castell de Peralada Festival (The Magic Flute in August 2018, Turandot in 2016), have participated in the Saint Mark Passion by JS Bach conducted by Jordi Savall in a concert tour in Catalonia and France, with a performance at the Philharmonie de Paris (March 2018), it has participated at L’Auditori with the OBC (Kaddish in February 2018), and in operas and concerts at the Gran Teatre del Liceu ( Un Conte de Nadal, Un Ballo in Maschera and Wherter in 2017, Macbeth and Otello in 2016). 

Born in Granollers in 1970, Josep Vila Jover studied choral conducting with Enric Ribó, Conxita Garcia and Christian Grube. Since 1995, he has been the artistic director of the Societat Coral Amics de la Unió, a prestigious choir school in Granollers that has more than six hundred and fifty students and ten active choirs. In this institution, he conducts VEUS – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió – formed by 60 equal voices between 12 and 18 years old – and the Cor de Cambra de Granollers, a mixed choir of 40 members. Both choirs are resident formations at the Teatre Auditori de Granollers since 2017.

He also regularly conducts international concerts and tours, all over Europe and from August 2017 also outside the continent.

He is regularly invited as a conductor to workshops and international choral festivals. Among the last participation we can highlight the EUROTREFF 2017 festival in Wolfenbüttel (Germany), Europa Cantat 2018 in Tallinn (Estonia), where he did a workshop with the Hungarian director József Nemes or the 6th Choir Meeting “El Canto Nos Une” in Colombia the September 2018.

Montana International Choral Festival

The Pan African Choir was founded in 2013 with a dream for unity, aimed at encouraging and strengthening Africa’s unique ethnic music and protecting it from extinction. Through performances and outreach activities, the Pan African team sensitizes communities about diversity and global citizenship.

The Choir constitutes a team of very talented music lovers dedicated to transforming Africa’s global opinions about it’s diversified cultures. Every Pan African choir member is an ambassador of hope, with extraordinary performance and engagement skills.  It is a unique group which brings a variety of choral repertoire from across Africa….. a one stop center.

Since its formation, the Choir has successfully performed in Uganda, Bujumbura,Italy and France. Their repertoire includes music from Uganda, the rest of the African Continent as well as other global music styles. The focus is on contemporary and traditional styles.

Simon Yiga is a seasoned Musician who has contributed enormously to music education within the East African region for over 40 years. He co-founded Kampala Music School for which he was Executive Director for 12 years. As a Rotarian, he has worked with Rotary to set up successful music programs to empower disadvantaged / marginalized communities.
