June Syvrud’s family is establishing a music scholarship fund honoring June’s true love for music. She was a performing artist as a vocalist, pianist and saxophone player. June’s role as a lead vocalist in many local musicals at the Port Polson Lake theater brought joy to many in the Mission Valley Community. Her greatest achievement was as a music educator and she taught music in the Polson School system for 20 years.
This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who intends to pursue a college music degree as a full time student.
A special concert to kick off the scholarship fund was held on June 1, 2019 at the Port Polson Theater. Because the scholarship funds will be managed by the Greater Polson Community Foundation which is a 501 c3 organization, donations should be made payable to the GPCF – PO Box 314, Polson, MT 59860 with a note designated to June Syvrud scholarship. A tax deductible receipt will be mailed to the donor. Donations may also be made online at the GPCF website at www.greaterpolsoncommunityfoundation.org
